KIDS' DISCOVERY MUSEUM

Opened in June 2010. The Kids Discovery Museum (KiDiMu) is a two-story steel and glass structure.  The building is carefully located next to an environmentally sensitive area.  The site was previously a junk yard so extensive work was done to clean up the site.  The result of this work was a dramatic increase in water quality in the neighboring ravine.  The building has a LEED silver rating and is one of the first in the state to receive both a LEED CS and CI designation.

As part of the new Island Gateway cultural center, the 5,000-square-foot building is just a short walk from the island's ferry terminal and town center. The non-profit center provides children and caregivers a destination venue for interactive discovery of art, science and culture through hands-on exhibits, daily art projects, cultural and scientific programs.
